I think that the theme of the book “Chains” is that “You should stand up for what is right and not just other people do.” I think that this theme best fits this story because in this book Ruth just goes along with everyone else even if she doesn’t believe in it. On the other hand, Isabella stands up for what she believes in and what the right thing to do is. One time in my book she stood up to her owner even though she knew she would be horribly punished for it. So she stood up to her owner and she got scolded in the face for it, but that didn’t stop her, I actually think it encouraged her to do it until her owner and all the other owners made the changes.

My favorite character so far is Isabella because when she sticks up for someone she does it because it’s the right thing to do and sometimes she gets punished for it, but the punishment makes her more determined to go and find Ruth. I would like to meet Isabella because she seems like a tough girl that stands up for what’s right and she doesn't stand up because they are her friend she stands up for anyone if it’s the right thing to do.
